How I Created My ‘Blog To Business’ Content Creation & Marketing Course

A while ago, a couple of people asked me to do presentations and workshops for them. At first, I hesitated. But soon enough, I realized something: I was tired of working for other people.

You see, I’ve always had my own way of doing things, especially in the world of content creation and marketing. I’m often asked, “Why do you do things differently?” And I always answer the same: “I like to do things my own way.” I believe it’s this unique approach that sets me apart and makes me stand out.

I’ve been in digital marketing for years, doing everything from workshops for big-name companies to smaller, more intimate sessions with local businesses. These experiences helped me realize how many people are doing content marketing wrong or just not making the most of what they create.

That’s when the idea hit me. Why not create my own content marketing workshop? It would be an opportunity to teach businesses how to maximize their content creation and market themselves effectively. After all, everything is content.

Content is Everywhere

I’ve always found it amusing when people in business or on LinkedIn talk about the importance of creating content. They say things like, “Content is king!” or “We need content!” But when you ask them what content is, they get stuck. “Content is content,” they’ll say. Well, not quite.

Content comes in many forms: text, visuals, and audio. Anything you can read, see, or listen to is content. Think about it:

  • Text: Emails, SMS messages, news articles, press releases.
  • Visuals: Photos, videos, advertisements, even images of historical events or war.
  • Audio: Radio shows, podcasts, or even a telemarketer leaving a silent voicemail.

So, the next time someone says they need content, they should understand that it’s much more than just a few blog posts or social media updates. Content is everything, and it can take many forms.

Teaching Businesses to Do It Themselves

As a digital marketer, I’ve spent years creating content for businesses. But then I thought: wouldn’t it be quicker, cheaper, and more effective to teach businesses how to do it themselves? Sure, there are always people out there who think they know more than you, especially when it comes to design or digital marketing. But at the end of the day, if I could teach businesses to create content that works for them, I’d be doing them (and myself) a huge favor.

That’s how my ‘Blog To Business’ content creation and marketing course was born. Initially, I aimed it at content creators like bloggers and influencers, helping them amplify their reach. But then I realized something: many content creators might not be ready to pay for a course. So, I shifted my focus to businesses—specifically, teaching them how to integrate content creation into their marketing strategy.

Everything I teach in the course is based on real-world experience. I’ve been doing this for over 20 years, with a decade of blogging and radio hosting. I’ve learned that the best content strategies are those that are streamlined and multi-channel. That means whatever I post on my blog automatically gets shared on social media and my radio show, and vice versa.

The beauty of repurposing content across multiple channels is that you can reach different audiences. Not all of my blog readers are on social media, and not all of my radio listeners follow me on Twitter. But by sharing content across various platforms, I ensure I’m reaching as many people as possible.

I’m now even creating podcast content and seeing the same work delivered in different forms. The key is to use the content you’ve created in as many ways as possible, tailoring it to fit the platform and the audience.

Course Updates and Future Plans

Initially, I had plans to include a detailed video module in my ‘Blog To Business’ course, but creating video content proved more challenging than I anticipated. While I do have some video elements in the course, I’ve had to scale back my original vision. But the core of the course is still intact and incredibly valuable.
