The story of Paul’s Homemade ice Cream started nine years ago, when Paul Ballen was given an ice cream maker for his 21st birthday. Never one to settle for ordinary, Paul started experimenting with the flavours and texture that has since become the hallmark of Paul’s Homemade Ice Cream, attracting literally thousands of fans from around the country as the brand established one outlet after another. Paul’s Homemade Ice Cream now has a presence in five provinces throughout South Africa, and is one of the country’s largest gourmet ice cream companies.

Paul’s Homemade Ice Cream’s following is based as much on the consistent quality of the ice cream as on the range of delectable flavours. Although the popularity of flavours like Birthday Cake and Cookies and Cream ensure that they are never long absent from serving counters, each store is stocked with a mix of ever changing tastes – most notably, the experimental flavour of the month.

However, the artistry that is Paul’s has now extended well beyond ice cream, to see the brand become a sweet treat haven – in keeping with Paul’s belief that dessert should be done perfectly and should cater to people besides ice cream lovers. The stores have evolved to become dessert bars, boasting extensive menus featuring everything from buttery waffles with melted chocolate to your favourite ice cream with a range of toppings.

Paul’s Homemade Ice Cream store at Steyn City is about far more than a scoop. Paul’s test kitchen chefs have worked hard to create a wide range of sweet delights: from waffles with melted chocolate to creamy vegan ice cream and delectable pastries.

Having become an established and much-loved part of the community at each of its locales, Paul’s Homemade Ice Cream is set to become an entrenched part of Steyn City’s City Centre, too.

The brand is a natural fit for the City Centre, and for Steyn City as a whole, given the development’s significant emphasis on family life. With dozens of play nodes ensuring this is a children’s paradise and luring children outside to explore in nature (and, most importantly, away from their screens), the only thing that could make Steyn City even better from a child’s perspective is, of course ice cream! And since Paul’s Homemade Ice Cream is located just a stone’s throw from the lagoon – where water slides and pedaloes are the stuff of happy days – life just became even sweeter.
